Online learning has experienced exponential growth internationally and is the fastest growing market segment of adult education. The growth of online education is a result of the combined factors of increased student demand for higher education, the reduction of geographic barriers, an increase in the number of Internet users, and institutional drive for profit. This paper will examine the opportunities, benefits, and challenges created by online learning.
